Hi, I'm Emma

I am trained in a range of approaches (relational, humanistic, psychodynamic), but in over a decade of practice I have found that it is the somatic (body-based) therapies that are the most useful for my clients.  These techniques are very effective online as well as in-person.

What would a session be like? First, we would explore your issues together through conversation to find a focus. Then, I may suggest a self-applied embodied intervention. So, for example, I would tap on me and and invite you to tap on you; or I would hold certain points on my body, and invite you to hold those same points on your own body. Or, I might use positive affirmations, and then ask you to repeat them out loud, or internally, to yourself.  All of this would be done with a caring and curious attitude towards you and what makes you unique.

Together we find a way forward, where you hold your power and potential for agency and change.

My Approach

Struggling with: anxiety, depression, bereavement, PTSD or trauma? Wrestling with purpose and meaning? Fed up going round in circles and now looking for a different approach?

Talking can be incredibly cathartic, but in my experience, talking alone is not always the answer. Instead, my clients typically find trauma-informed, body-based approaches incredibly helpful. These techniques - including tapping and breathing exercises - are combined with listening and conversation, and fit firmly and safely within a recognisably psychotherapeutic frame.
